The word Pharmaceutics is concerned with the scientific and technological aspects starting from Preformulation (Physical Pharmacy ), dealing with test for stability, expiry dating, release rate etc. The successful formula is transferred to large scale production in controllable manner by Quality Control ( QC ) department alongwith strict implementation of Good Manufacturing Practice ( GMP ) to fulfill the quality parameters required for the large production of dosage forms ( Pharmaceutical Technology). Product quality is maintained by various management systems like Material management (Store), Production Management (PM), Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) Management, Packaging Management & Marketing Management . In simple words Pharmaceutics converts a Drug into a Medicine and also covers the areas of Bio-Pharmaceutics which deals with Bio-chemical & Physiological affects of drugs, study of what a drug does to the body ( Pharmacodynamics ), study of what body does to a drug ( Pharmacokinetics ).
In recent era extensive research on Controlled & Novel Drug Delivery System (NDDS) e.g. Nanoparticles, Transdermal drug delivery system, Liposomes etc. has assumed a global mission, which envisages better therapeutic efficacy of drug with minimum toxicity.
Keeping all these in view, Pharmaceutics laboratory is well equipped with sophisticated instruments for the formulation and quality evaluation of various dosage forms like tablets, capsules, parenterals, suspensions, emulsions etc. The students are guided by qualified and experienced faculties to achieve the concept of Pharmaceutics during their course period.
